Central Australia's peak tourism body is urging people to vote online for Uluru to be recognised internationally as one of the world's top natural wonders.
Uluru has been named among the 28 finalists selected by the New Seven Wonders Foundation.
The chairman of Tourism Central Australia, Ren Kelly, says the final seven will be announced in mid-2011.
"It gives us time to work on ensuring that Australians, and particularly those Australians who live in Central Australia, support that by logging onto Tourism Australia's website and making their nomination."
A recent report has recommended banning visitors from climbing Uluru for environmental, cultural and safety reasons.
