At a time when tourism generally has been under pressure due to the economic downturn, Eyre Peninsula has gone against the trend, with a significant rise in visitor numbers.
In the past year, the region has recorded a 4 per cent increase in overnight visitor numbers and a 27 per cent rise in visitor nights.
Regional tourism manager Emily White says Eyre Peninsula is finally getting the tourism recognition it deserves.
"Considering that domestic tourism is expected to be down in the future we're really bucking the trend here on the Eyre Peninsula," she said.
"The reason why we're seeing an increase in visitation we believe is firstly because we've got such a great range of experiences for visitors here but also the SA Tourism Commission and Tourism Eyre Peninsula are really focusing on marketing the region interstate."
