Silversea shore concierge service
By: Louise Goldsbury, Cruise Weekly
Guests sailing with Silversea Cruises can now design their own shore excursions with the help of the new 'Silver Shore Concierge' service.
The new service is available to guests and travel agents, who can request assistance to create private shore excursions.
"Our team of destination experts are happy to set up arrangements to meet a guest's specific requirements, tailored to their personal interests, or help guests design their own one-of-a-kind onshore experience," said Silversea's director of land programs, Darius Mehta.
Discerning travellers will now be able to make arrangements for activities like sightseeing, sporting events, tours or exclusive, after hours shopping to supplement their cruise.
Concierges can also organise pre and post-cruise land adventures, flights and more.
They will also accompany cruises to help guests plan and organise all their independent touring.
Speaking with Cr Cruise uise W Weekl eekl eekly, Mehta said the line's extensive network of experienced ground handlers in each location meant a range of one-of-a-kind experiences could be organised for passengers.
Guests need to have deposited or paid for their cruise to take advantage of the new service, and payment for arrangements made through the concierge will be made before departing and a service fee applies.
Mehta also outlined another Silversea initiative to make it easier for clients to book pre- and post- cruise hotels.
In many ports Silversea has negotiated special rates with hoteliers - including InterContinental, Shangri-La and Fairmont - to offer a 'Simply Hotel' and a 'Grande Hotel' option which can be booked along with a passengers' cruise holiday.
