Camp Cobark, NEW SOUTH WALES

Located at the foothills of the Barrington Tops World Heritage Area, Camp Cobark is a fully operational cattle station and has fantastic horse riding experiences for beginners to expert horse riders.

Camp Cobark is situated approximately 3 hours north of Sydney near the town of Gloucester. All cattle work here is still conducted in the old-fashioned way on horseback with working dogs.

Activities here include horse riding or bush walking in 15,000 acres of the world renowned Barrington Tops bushland and rainforest. Visitors can also muster cattle the way traditional Australian bushman do.

Allen "Big Al" Shultz is a stockman, born and bred in the Gloucester and Barrington Tops region, who, to this day still actively musters the densely forested peaks and ravines of the high country on horseback with his working dogs. With 40 years experience with horses and cattle, Big Al is a living example of the true Australian stockman.

Exploring the World Heritage-listed region of Barrington Tops on horseback is a great way to see the wilderness of the area. It's also a well-known destination for bushwalkers as well as four-wheel drivers with a number of tracks and trails.

In the lower valleys, you'll find World Heritage-listed subtropical rainforests. Up on the plateau, there is subalpine woodland which regularly sees snow in winter.

The Hookes Creek Forest Retreat is located near Camp Cobark and is set on two thousand acres. With ten luxurious private cedar cottages, open fires and a spa bath in every bathroom it is the ultimate place to be pampered after a hard day exploring on horseback.
