While it may not be over-the-top indulgence the retreat is not by no means rustic - it has a 4 star AAA rating. Most health retreats are quite regimented and have strict rules on what you can and can't do.

At Dargan springs, there are no fixed itineraries, no busy programs, and no restrictions on caffeine, alcohol or meat. You can do as little or as much as you like. There is no gym so guests are encouraged to exercise in the fresh air by going bushwalking or mountain biking.

The emphasis is on slowing down and while the approach may be considered casual, it is by no means lazy. The philosophy is to give each guests practical tips on health and lifestyle which they will then be able to apply to everyday living. It's about long term and sustainable strategies for a healthier lifestyle, not just a quick fix detox. The other point of difference between this and other health retreats is the Dargan doesn't just appeal to women.

It attracts a range of people, including lots of couples. Another feature is that the retreat is a child free zone (kids under 16 are not catered for). There is no minimum stay but the average stay is about 2 to 4 days.
