SunDive, through the Planula Diver's Retreat, runs half-day dives for beginners twice a day all year round. Anyone with a clean bill of health aged 12 and over can join in. The lessons will teach you basics such as hand signals you can use underwater to communicate with other divers.Once you have mastered a few techniques, it's time to hit the water. You will head to Julian Rocks, about three minutes off the coast, where you will be introduced to the water - and to over 500 species of fish - under the watchful eye of your instructor.Other animals you should look out for are stingrays, venomous lionfish and harmless sharks. If you have any steam left at the end of your dive, grab a board, bike or boogie board from Planula. It's free and a great way to fill in the rest of your day.
