High altitude and high adrenalin over the spectacular Illawarra

The South Coast features some of the most spectacular coastal scenery in NSW with unspoilt beaches interspersed with rugged headlands and more than half of the State's coastal lakes and lagoons.

The South Coast encompasses four sub-regions:

1. Illawarra (from Wollongong to Gerroa)

3. Eurobodalla Nature Coast (from Batemans Bay to Tilba Tilba)

4. Sapphire Coast (Bermagui to Eden)

Take a drive south from Wollongong through the beautiful coastal towns of Shellharbour and then onto Kiama. There are plenty of scenic lookouts along the way including Saddleback Mountain and Jamberoo Mountain Pass.

The newly opened Illawarra Fly treetop walk is an elevated steel canopy walk through the rainforest on the Illawarra escarpment, offering unique views to Lake Illawarra and the coast. It is the only treetop walk of its kind in NSW, with two cantilevered arms, taking the visitor to the edge!

The Minnamurra Rainforest looks like something out of the Amazon jungle - giant roots creep across the forest floor, thick strangler figs lasso trees, and raucous bird calls erupt from the canopy high overhead.

And the ultimate way to see the Illawarra is to take to the skies with NSW Air for a real bird's eye view! Their Bridge to Beaches Tour flies past the new Seacliff bridge then over Wollongong city and along the coast to Kiama taking in the pristine views of the Illawarra and the escarpment.
