Kiama Cooking School, NEW SOUTH WALES
Airing Date: Feb 9th, 2004
Having recently opened its doors to visitors, the Elise Pascoe Cooking School invites guests to take part in practical and theoretical cooking classes while enjoying local wines and a low key game of golf. Located in the tranquil Jamberoo Valley, an hour and a half from Sydney, the cooking school blends learning with relaxation - the perfect ingredients for a fun weekend away.
Elise Pascoe is an internationally recognised chef who has taught extensively in regional Australia and around the world. Not only has she given classes in the world's most elite hotels, she was the founding food editor for Good Living in the Sydney Morning Herald and has also been a food ambassador for Australian products overseas.
Elise offers a variety of cooking classes ranging from Moroccan to Middle Eastern, Italian Summer Salads to Thai Seafood. Joining a class is as simple as choosing your preferred day and cuisine.
Most classes are taught over one day, but two day weekend courses are available as well. An average day includes around six hours of learning, broken up with morning tea, games of golf and a scrumptious three course lunch made by the students, complemented by fine wines.
If you stay the weekend, there are plenty of things to do and places to stay in the nearby town of Kiama. The coastal town is home to the famous Blowhole and long, windswept beaches. Combine the area's natural amenity with superb culinary delights (which you helped create) and you've got a recipe for a great weekend escape.
