You don't need to drive far to get your fix of the bush. A two hour journey from Sydney will get you to the Megalong Valley in the Blue Mountains, with bushwalking, riding and cabins.
Megalong Valley hosts one of the Blue Mountains' best picnic grounds at the Old Ford Reserve, located along Megalong Road by the Megalong Creek.
Werriberri Lodge Holiday cabins are situated on 200 acres of beautiful bushland, surrounded by awesome cliffs, beautiful rainforests and some of the most popular walking trails in the Blue Mountains. They're just 25 minutes' drive from Katoomba and an hour to the Jenolan Caves.
There are six self-contained, two bedroom cabins that will accommodate up to six people each. The cabins are fully equipped with their own bathroom, kitchen and open plan living area with satellite television, wood burning fires and reverse cycle air conditioning. Undercover barbeque facilities are available on site.
Werriberri Trail Rides is a family-run business offering a wide range of trail rides to choose from. You can take a one hour horse ride, a three hour ride or an overnight ride. They even offer wagon rides and up to a nine day pub crawl ride!
Why not check out the tea rooms? Located directly opposite the Werriberri Lodge is a gorgeous spot where visitors and locals can sit back, relax and enjoy a home made scones and Devonshire tea. It's open from 9am to 5.30pm daily, with breakfast from 9am to 11am.
The facts
Werribee Trail rides cost from $38 for an hour, $66 for two hours, and $87 for three hours. Pony rides are available for young children.
