Narooma Golf Course, NEW SOUTH WALES

About five hours south of Sydney, Narooma Golf Course is a challenge for serious golfers and a beautiful location for the not so serious. Established in 1930, Narooma has been rated at 32 in Australia's top 50 public access courses and amongst Australia's top 25 resort golf courses.

Narooma Golf Club has a modern clubhouse with an upstairs auditorium that seats 500 and offers great views of the coastline. A whale watching deck with a high powered telescope is located off the auditorium.

The club also features the First Hole Cocktail Lounge, a parents' room, Kidz Klub, Bunka's Family Bistro and four bars, full TAB and Club Keno facilities.

But what's the course like for the connoisseur? Narooma's an 18 hole, par 72 course. The front nine has vast, undulating fairways built along the cliffs with views of the Pacific Ocean and Montague Island. The third, Hogan's Hole, is named after Paul Hogan, who filmed an advertisement there many years ago. The hole, a par three, is notoriously difficult due to a cliff fall between the tee and green. The back nine is in complete contrast as it meanders through tall timbers. Visitors can take a lesson with Narooma Golf Club's resident golf pro, Colin Holmes. Colin charges $35 for a 30 minute lesson.

The Narooma Golf Course is a challenging course in a spectacular location, and worthy of its listing in Australia's top 25 Resort Golf Courses.

The facts:

Golf lessons cost from $35 a person for 30 minutes. Golf costs from $32.50 for 18 holes and $22.50 for 12 holes.
