To complete this experience Shelley sat down to enjoy the traditional colonial High Tea.
The Woollahra Paddington area of Sydney has the largest expanse of Colonial Victorian Architecture in Australia. Visitors to this area can now stay in one of these lovely buildings - The Hughenden.
The buildings varied past - a Masonic Hall, a guest house, nurses home, a dance hall and even a college, add to the character of this eccentric but charming boutique hotel.
This gracious Victorian Manor was built in 1870 by Dr Frederick Harrison Quaife and was named after British Prime Minister, Benjamin Disraeli's home in High Wycombe England.
Guests are encouraged to walk the corridors and rooms to discover the hidden treasures the Hughenden Hotel offers, such as the wrought-iron grand staircase, black marble fireplace, the servants' bell, grand pianos, rocking horses and other eccentricities of the past.
