The Newport Arms in Newport on Sydney's northern beaches is a local institution. Only an hour out of Sydney, it's also an official NSW Tourism 'must-see'. Since it was built in 1880 the same family have owned and run the pub, and with recent renovations the venue has really taken off.
The Arms faces scenic Pittwater, just a stone's throw from Palm Beach. It has Australia's largest beer garden and serves up to 18 different types of beer to satisfy any taste.
There are also three different restaurants serving cuisine from bistro burgers through to al fresco fine dining, including The Grill, which is famous for its huge seafood platters. Everything is on a grand scale, and the kids are sure to enjoy themselves just as much as the adults.
There are three kids' playgrounds with the latest equipment, plus special events such as KIDZfest. The adults are kept entertained with a big, outdoor screen which is great for watching major sporting events. The waterfront setting and surrounding activities means that the whole family can enjoy their day out with relaxation, good food and of course, good beer.
If you've travelled from afar or just fancy staying the night, the adjoining family hotel features the same gorgeous water views and a great pool and spa. The accommodation has also recently been renovated and includes eight double rooms and one family room which sleeps up to seven people. A light breakfast is also included in the price of the room.

Team Sail down the road have a great range of boats for hire, whether you're after a yacht or a tinnie for fishing or just soaking up the magnificent scenery - and you can disembark at the jetty right at the foot of the hotel with the beer garden in tantalising view.
