Pokolbin in situated in the heart of the Hunter, about 90 minutes drive from Sydney. Pokolbin's not so much a village as a collection of vineyards, cellars and resorts, the plushest resort of the lot being the brand-new Tower Lodge. Tower Lodge is the place for a splurge. There are just a dozen oversized luxury rooms, each with its own lounge, spa and private deck. You could quite happily stay put here for a whole weekend and not go anywhere else. If you can manage to drag yourself away, the Golden Door Spa is a must. About 10 minutes drive away at Cypress Lakes, the spa is another new addition to the Hunter region and a great place for a morning pick-me-up. The spa's speciality is something called Indian sheer-rah-dah-rah oil therapy. A few hours of pampering includes a massage, scrub and a rose petal bath. At the end of it you'll feel like you've been on holidays for a week! To keep yourself in relaxed mode, leave the rest of the day's driving up to someone else. The vineyard shuttle service will take you off the usual tourist trail and drop you at destinations of your own choosing. It's a great way to see the Hunter in style!To indulge one last time, be sure to take a visit to Tower Lodge's neighbour - Tower Estate. This boutique winery, which produces just 1000 cases of each wine every year, makes a premium drop from some of the best grapes in the Hunter.OK, so you did end up touching a drop of wine after all!
