Nestled in the Southern Highlands, only two hours from Sydney, is one of NSW's best-kept secrets - Tugalong Station.
This 5340 acre property sits at the junction of the Wollondilly and Wingecarribee Rivers and offers guests the opportunity for a real Australian country experience! Much of Tugalong is still natural bush land, which abounds with native wildlife and flora. It is a bush walker's delight. The property is home to kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas, and many species of lizards and monitors.
The 22 kilometres of rivers surrounding the property are safe havens for platypus, and many other animals, that live and breed near the water. As a farmstay you'd expect good old country accommodation and that's exactly what you get! The main lodge has a large fireplace as its central feature and there's no better place to laze around reading a book or having a quiet drink. You can even have a crack at a game of pool! The bedrooms are basic but have everything you need, including your own bathroom!
But you're down on the farm so you want to get outdoors and get stuck in. There's no shortage of ways to do this:
*There's horse riding, and horses to cater for all levels of riding skills. The trails are considered some of the best and most spectacular in and around Sydney.
*Tugalong also provides the perfect setting for four wheel driving! 4WD tours take you all over the property and if you have your own you can tag-along too!
*On the river you can grab a canoe and go for a paddle. Or there's an abundance of tracks to get out for a spot of bushwalking!
*When the sun sets a lot of Tugalong's wildlife comes out to play and spotlighting tours to see them are very popular.
*And, of course, there's an array of typical farm activities including sheep shearing demonstrations!
