Simpsons of Potts Point is a restored manor house that offers boutique style accommodation just 15 minutes walk from the heart of the city and right near happening Kings Cross.
Designed by leading Sydney architect John Bede Barlow, Simpsons was built in 1892 as the family residence of John Lane-Mullins, a member of the New South Wales Colonial Parliament.
The glory of this house has been recaptured in an imaginative and sensitive restoration. The charm of the original house is still there, with the grand halls and stained glass windows, but all the necessary modern conveniences that travellers need have been included too.
All 14 rooms have private ensuite bathrooms, queen, king or twin beds, individually controlled air-conditioning, ceiling fans, fridge, windows that actually open and modem points.
The front lounge area is always available for reading and evening socialising. Guests are welcome to browse through the extensive library of books on many topics including Australian history and architecture. In the winter time the fire is lit and complimentary sherry and port are available. There's also an extensive art collection for guests to enjoy.
Proximity to central Sydney, leafy streets, smart restaurants and casual cafes make this suburb an ideal destination. Best of all, you can stroll along the harbour foreshore of Woolloomooloo, through the wonderful Botanical Gardens, and find yourself staring up at the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House at Circular Quay.
