Located an hour north of Tamworth in New South Wales, Oakhampton Lodge has been in the Nixon family for six generations. The Nixons are proud of their ancestry and a strong sense of family history can be felt in each of the four guest bedrooms.
Oakhampton is a working farm, so the operational nature of the property allows guests to experience life on a true Australian farm. This includes participation in sheep shearing, animal feeding and horse riding.
If you'd rather relax, try some bird watching, go bushwalking, try your hand at photography or just pack a picnic.
For horse lovers, there are five different rides through the eucalypt hills. Riding through the hills may seem a bit daunting if you don't know the area, but all you need is Bob, who has been working on the land for 44 years.
Oakhampton Lodge offers an all meals inclusive package, where all the food including the bread, the chocolate cake, the morning tea scones and marinade olives are home made.
