Litchfield Camping Tour, NORTHERN TERRITORY
Airing Date: Jan 1st, 2002
The best part about the type of camping on this tour is that it won't be an uncomfortable, insect-ridden night in the wilderness. And there will be no pitching of tents - the campsite is all made up for you. There is plenty to see in the area and just around every corner is another waterfall or swimming hole to cool off from the heat. Be sure to check for crocs first, though.
The safari will travel through the woodlands and you will be shown points of interest such as the giant mounds that look like bush cemeteries. They are built by a breed of termite, which is only found in a small area south of Darwin
The tour will also take you four-wheel driving to get to the campsite, which is tucked away among paperbark trees in a hidden corner of the park. The tour only runs in the dry season, between the months of April and November.
