Dunk Island Golfing, QUEENSLAND

Located just four and a half kilometres off the coast of Queensland, Dunk Island is a great holiday destination for the whole family. Accommodation ranges from a large P&O Resort to a camping ground with toilet and shower facilities.

About three-quarters of Dunk Island is national park, so you can expect beautiful beaches amidst tropical foliage.

Dunk Island's newest project is its 18-hole golf course. The course uses the island's natural features and the surrounding rainforest. Golfers can tackle the challenging course while enjoying spectacular views of the Coral Sea. To play all 18 holes costs $40, which covers the cost of around four hours of golf with the views thrown in for free.

While most golfers enjoy a beer and a chat after a game, on this island they can get straight into relaxation mode at the Spa of Peace and Plenty. The Spa offers treatments to men and women, so whether it's a rejuvenating massage or a stress-releasing facial, you'll walk away feeling like you're on cloud nine. If you find golf frustrating rather than fun, there are plenty of other activities. Choose from day tours to the Great Barrier Reef, bushwalking to the summit, tennis, beach volleyball, archery, or take to the water on the paddle skis, jet skis, wind surfers or catamarans.

If roughing it on an exclusive tropical island isn't for you, forget the camping option and stay at Dunk Island Resort instead. Dunk Island Resort boasts 144 rooms, all featuring a patio area or balcony. Included in the tariff is a three course buffet dinner plus a whole bunch of free activities.

There are new Bayview Suites at Dunk Island Resort as well. These beachside rooms offer virtually uninterrupted views over Brammo Bay with direct access to the beach. Other accommodation options are available with easy access to the beach through a tropical garden.
