Dunk Island, QUEENSLAND
Airing Date: Dec 2nd, 2002
This is an island of peace and plenty where the scenery is spectacular and the sunrises and sunsets will take your breath away. In addition to the natural beauty the island offers an amazing variety of activities, facilities and experiences.
To start your tropical escape stroll along the sandy beach and enrol in one of the island's free Pilates classes.
Pilates is a combination of yoga, breathing, weight training and gymnastics that aims to tone up without bulking up. The emphasis of the low impact class is on stretching and strengthening so literally anyone of any age can have a go.
For something more energetic try a jet ski safari. This two hour guided tour takes you out to Sting Ray Reef where you get to see some amazing coral formations, plus it includes a swim stop at the secluded Naturist Beach where even in mid-June the water is still warm enough for a dip.
At the end of the day watch the sunset over main beach as you enjoy a cocktail, then after the orange finally fades away to darkness head poolside for an Asian stir fry.
From time to time the resort offers poolside barbecues and Asian buffet nights.
The Asian buffet nights allow guests to create their own delicious meal by combining ingredients such as Chinese broccoli, shiitake mushrooms and peanuts with their choice of beef, chicken, prawns and calamari. The food is fresh and there is plenty of it so your creation will be exactly the way you like it.
The island's Spa of Peace and Plenty offers a variety of treatments including the luxurious two hour Ancient Arts Awakener. Choose this treatment and you will be treated to a sea salt foot bath and Reiki treatment. Then the final stage of the pampering is the 5,000 year old ayurvedic ritual of pouring warmed sesame oil over the forehead and onto the third eye.
