Gold Coast Theme Parks, QUEENSLAND
Airing Date: Mar 20th, 2006
The theme park capital of Australia has just gotten bigger. The weather's warm again, and that means it's the perfect time to check out all the new attractions that the Gold Coast theme parks have planned, opening just in time for the school holidays.
The brand new attraction at Movie World is Shrek 4D. 'Shrek 4D Adventure' is a cutting edge multi-sensory attraction, a totally new movie with spectacular visuals and multiple special effects yet to be seen, heard and felt in a '4D' attraction in Australia. Guests visiting Warner Bros Movie World will also have the chance to meet the big, green and loveable ogre Shrek and his new bride Princess Fiona, who will join the star-studded cast of characters appearing in the Park daily.
There's a whole swag of baby animals to see now at Sea World, from polar bear cubs to a gorgeous baby dugong called Wuru, just rescued this year by Sea World. Sea World has totally revamped its water ski show taking it back in time to the 'Golden Era' of Surfers Paradise in the 1960s. 'Waterski WipeOut' is full of tunes, colourful costumes and sets and slapstick humour , all themed in true 1960s style including an EK Holden. The new 'Waterski WipeOut' show was written and choreographed by Ignatius Jones, the creative force behind the Sydney 2000 Olympics opening ceremony.
The all-new Buccaneer Bay at Wet'n'Wild Water World is purpose built for children under ten with specially designed areas for individual age groups. This new attraction has a pirate theme and interactive elements. The focal point of the attraction is a giant tipping bucket that spills litres of water onto the children below. There are also children's slides and pools. Buccaneer Bay is the first step in a twenty million dollar expansion. That will make Wet'n'Wild one of the five biggest water parks on the planet.
