The Angsana Resort and Spa Great Barrier Reef is nestled in Palm Cove, just north of Cairns. It is a member of the five-star 'Small Luxury Hotels of the World' group, and boasts absolute frontage to the magnificent Coral Sea.
It is sister to the famed Banyan Tree properties of Asia, and shares their reputation for luxury.
The resort opened in September 2000 and has 67 luxurious suites which are spacious, air-conditioned and lavishly decorated with drapes of Thai silk. There are four types of suites including a one-bedroom, two-bathroom suite ideal for romantic couples or honeymooners.
There are plenty of activities available such as the spa treatments, snorkelling out on the Great Barrier Reef and walks along stunning Palm Cove.
If you prefer to get a bit more active there's water skiing, windsurfing, parasailing and even bungee jumping available. You can also go hiking in the World Heritage rainforest or visit the Wildlife Park.
Aside from the activities, the resort offers great places to hang out and relax. The Far Horizons Restaurant and Bar has been voted one of the best restaurants on the Northern Beaches in Queensland. It serves international cuisine with an Asian influence and mouth watering seafood dishes. It offers diners the romantic choice of eating alfresco by the beach with a sea breeze or indoors in cosy comfort.
In the evening, head over to the Reef Bar for a variety of cocktails, or chill out in the comfortable Ulysses Lounge, which provides board games.
