The Outrigger Beach Resort and Spa in Palm Cove, near Cairns, is the place to stay for celebrity-style accommodation. It's an easy 30 kilometres from Cairns International Airport, across the road from the beach and a mere 100 metres to Palm Cove town centre. In June 2003, the $50 million Outrigger Beach Club and Spa at Palm Cove opened its final stage of development. It is one of North Queensland's largest resorts, with 220 suites, and if you book a five night stay, they'll even provide a complimentary airport transfer in a Rolls Royce!
Since the early 1980s, Palm Cove has developed from a sleepy beach community to a chic resort town. Although small, Palm Cove has some wonderful cafes and restaurants, with three of the restaurants noted in Australia's Top 200.
The resort itself has four restaurants providing a choice for all the guests. One of the restaurants, Tamara's, operates under the watchful eye of internationally-travelled chef, Martin Bainbridge. He has recently returned from a stint in London cooking at the famed Ritz Hotel, but now his Tamara's seafood platter is causing quite a stir. If you don't fancy eating out, it's no problem to order in.
Palm Cove was recently voted one of the cleanest beaches, so you can enjoy plenty of swimming and surfing during your stay. The resort also provides tennis courts and a gym if you're feeling active.
Guests can indulge in some luxury at the Sanctum Spa. There's a mix of seven wet and dry treatment rooms, offering over 45 revitalizing treatments for men and woman.
