Port Douglas is just an hour's drive from Cairns. Over the last decade, the town has developed from a seaside fishing port to a major tourist attraction. Port Douglas now has over 520,000 visitors a year including international film stars, heads of state plus the general holiday maker.
The Great Barrier Reef, Mossman Gorge, Four Mile Beach and the Daintree's ancient rainforests are just some of the delights in the area.
But one of the main attractions is being able to visit two world heritage listed sites in just one day.

The Daintree River is a 45km drive from Port Douglas, and a one hour river cruise is a must. Mossman Gorge, with its spectacular swimming holes, is one of the most visited spots in the area.
The tour then heads to the oldest living rainforest on earth. The Daintree area rainforests form part of the World Heritage Listed Wet Tropics and is the second largest virgin tract of rainforest after the Amazon rainforest in South America.
The Daintree was formed about 250 million years ago and in 1988 became the eighth Australian property to be listed by the World Heritage Trust.
Extra Action Water Sports has been operating for the past 10 years and offers a thrill boat ride on the new ocean sprinter. The ocean sprinter makes three trips daily to Low Isles for snorkelling and is a great alternative for people who do not want to spend all day on a reef trip but do want to get wet and take a look beneath the sea.
The thrill boat travels up to 80km/hr so it only takes 15 minutes to get to your destination, all the more time for swimming, snorkelling and checking out the 300 different types of coral.
