Boot Camp, QUEENSLAND
Airing Date: Sep 30th, 2002
Boot Camp Australia offers a range of half day, full day and weekend courses that are designed to build strength, confidence and friendship. To participate in the programs you need to grab about 10 friends and be prepared to get down and dirty. While anyone can participate they are a great option for bucks parties and work outings.
The way that the camp works is that two teams line up against each other in a bid to be branded as the most successful at the end of the day. There are three components to the courses - the first two are about leadership and team work and involve numerous bonding. The third is about problem solving.
The first activity of the day is a purpose built obstacle course comprising of a log roll, wall climb, vaulting gates, monkey bars and balancing beams. In a race against the clock both teams aim to complete the task faster than their opponents.
Next the adventure heads to the high ropes, which are a series of elevated cables and ropes. Using the latest safety harnesses and techniques under the guidance of qualified instructors the elements of the course sound scary but are actually quite safe.
The last stage of the course involves problem solving and sets up a situation where the group has contracted Q-disease and need to get an antidote to live. With an hour on the clock the teams compete to build a stable raft that can cross the river to retrieve the antidote and keep it dry.
