Mercure Surfers Paradise, QUEENSLAND
Airing Date: Jun 28th, 2004
The Mercure Resort in Surfers Paradise is just two blocks from the beach. The resort has absolutely everything to keep the kids entertained and the parents happy, but it's the latest family-friendly addition that everyone is raving about - The Junior Bunkhouse.
The Junior Bunkhouse is the latest addition which all the kids are crazy about. It was specifically designed with both parents and kids in mind to ensure everyone is happy.
There's a comfortable room for the parents to relax in and a separate room for the kids to play and stay in. It features brightly painted bunk beds and their own TV with the Nickelodeon channel, as well as a Playstation, chalkboard and play desk. The new rooms give the kids a sense of their own private space.
The parents aren't neglected either. Their rooms include comfortable queen sized beds, tea and coffee facilities, as well as a small fridge and microwave to help reduce the cost of your holiday.
The Mercure Surfers Paradise has four swimming pools, a mini-market, mini-golf and the famous Gecko's Kids Club. Gecko's is open to children aged five to 12, and incorporates large play spaces such as Little Town, with peddle powered cars and working traffic lights.
There's also a painting room where the kids can get creative. The fully supervised sessions are a great way for the kids to make new friends and experience lots of different activities. There's also Junior Gecko, which looks after young babies through to pre-school age children.
If you want to eat out, try Sinbad's restaurant. It has a casual atmosphere and is open for breakfast or dinner. If you don't want to move yourself away from the pool, there's the GD Express deli caf, which is great for cocktails and snacks. When it comes to the evening, make your way to the Two Cans Bar, which is a great place to relax with the family, enjoy a cold beer and sit back to watch the evening entertainment.
