The Chapel B&B, Adelaide Hills, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The Chapel is a charming B&B that allows guests to spend a night in a restored church. Built in 1869, it was bought in 1996 by its current owner and operator, Sophie Thompson. Sophie and her family have renovated this abandoned church to a gorgeous B&B with a beautiful cottage garden.

The restored chapel's interior is filled with country style furniture and antiques. The main part of the chapel is now the lounge and kitchen, and what once was the old vestry is now the bedroom and dressing room. A spa has also been installed. Guests who stay the night here can also wake up to a country style breakfast.

The Chapel is not only a heavenly place to stay, it also gives a truly fulfilling gardening and culinary experience. Sophie's garden is filled with roses, perennials and many rare plants. Her passion for horticulture is certain to inspire any keen gardener - and even those who are not.

Visitors to the Chapel B & B can cook their own lunch using ingredients fresh from the kitchen garden. Guests can also take part in a gourmet gardening course with the food experts of South Australia, Trevor Nottle and Chris Stephan. Along with Sophie, they will help you create your culinary masterpiece. The facts:
