The Woodhouse Activity Centre is the solution for all the mums and dads out there. There are so many activities to keep your children occupied that you'll need days to try everything at least once. Woodhouse is located in the scenic Adelaide Hills, just 25 minutes from the city centre, and despite the appeal to the kids, its great fun for the adults too!
One of the main attractions at Woodhouse is Woody's Challenge Hill, an outdoor activity course which tests your physical fitness and promotes teamwork. The course covers three hillsides and requires you to crawl, climb, slide and swing your way through 40 different types of obstacles.
There's also the opportunity to test you map reading skills with a bit of orienteering. There are several courses which have been professionally designed, and each group must follow certain signs to reach their goal. If you feel daring, try Australia's longest flying fox - all 320 metres of it!
Entry to Woodhouse is $16.50 for students or $26.40 for adults, and you need to be in a group of 10. There are no restaurants at Woodhouse, but visitors are encouraged to use the free undercover gas BBQs provided.
Woodhouse offers camping sites with all necessary amenities such as hot showers and undercover recreational areas. For a more private, secluded stay there are quaint cabins which sleep up to six people. Cabins include basic catering equipment and are great for the family.
From flying foxes to beautiful nature walks, mountain bike tours or abseiling down the Adelaide Hills, there's plenty to keep the children - and the adults - happy at Woodhouse.
The facts
You can pitch a tent for $7.50 per person per night or rent out a chalet for $60 a night. The chalets sleep six in bunk beds.
Entry to Woodhouse Activity Centre is $6 per person. This cost includes Challenge Hill, orienteering and the BBQs.
