Odyssey Cruise on the Murray, SOUTH AUSTRALIA
Airing Date: Apr 21st, 2003
Board an amazing houseboat called the Odyssey at Mannum in South Australia and prepare for a cruisy weekend.
Back in the 1860s Mannum was a thriving port and the Murray was a four lane super waterway.
In 2002 the rivers intensity has slowed but the people are starting to trickle back and the Odyssey, a one million dollar grand vessel, is leading the way. With extensive luxurious facilities, the Odyssey is more like a five-star floating hotel than a riverboat. Equipped with four double cabins each featuring a private ensuite, the Odyssey can sleep up to eight guests. Downstairs there is even an informal eating area.
Water skiers and sailors travel hundreds of miles to test these waters and the mighty Murray can be regarded as Adelaide's aquatic playground.
When cruising these famous waters aboard the Odyssey sailors can indulge in as much or as little as they like.
If water action is on the agenda then getting hold of the ultimate fun gear such as a wake-board, wet suit or jet board can be arranged through a quick word to your captain.
The captain can also arrange personal access to a jet ski for the whole day.
If you have a more passive escape in mind you are free to simply sit back and relax while taking in the natural beauty of the Murray and its abundant birdlife.
The Odyssey is also stocked with plenty of bait and rods so keen fishermen can cast a line off the back.
Like the skipper, an attentive and highly skilled chef is part of your personalised crew.
