Waterholes Guest House, VICTORIA

Waterholes provides an escape to peace and tranquillity, with comfort & fine food, in a modern day garden of Eden.

It's also rich in history, and has a wildlife population you might only see in a sanctuary! Set on 43 acres, Waterholes is located on the upper reaches of the Nicholson River, north east of Bairnsdale...gold country.Called a 'soak' by naturalists because it offers animals a number of different food sources and habitat, Waterholes is blessed with natural grassland, beautiful dry-land forests, a clear stony river and an interesting wetland. Scientists visit here to conduct studies on the ecology of the land and it's inhabitants.

Wildlife here includes kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, all of Victoria's gliding possums, and over a hundred species of bird. If you're a keen ornithologist, then this place is akin to heaven with about 120 species of birds. There is no mobile or television reception to remind you of the outside world at Waterholes, only the sounds provided by nature: birdsong, the tumbling river and the sugar gliders calling at night. Perhaps all these amazing elements in one place is why Waterholes has been awarded many accolades including: Winner of the Lakes and Wilderness Tourism Award 2002, Certificate of Merit Lakes and Wilderness Tourism Award 2003, Winner of the Lakes and Wilderness Tourism Award 2004 and theTourism Minister's Encouragement Award, Victorian Tourism Awards 2004.

There are three luxury suites, each designed with king size beds, ensuite with shower and large bath, and private balconies looking over the natural wonders of the property. Each suite will accommodate a couple in spacious comfort, but will also provide uncrowded accommodation for up to four. A short garden walk brings you to the guest's sitting room with library and fireplace where you can relax. The Fun Parlour on the property is a little bit of whimsy constructed from the remains of a hayshed and other 'found objects'. It houses a pool table and space for guests to play - this structure never fails to bring smiles! Further Information
