Anglers Rest, VICTORIA
Airing Date: Nov 22nd, 2004
The famous Anglers Rest and Glen Wills are north of Omeo on the Mitta Mitta road in the Victorian High Country. The rivers are magnificent, and trout fishing is the preferred way of getting breakfast.
The Bundara Valley is just beyond the Duck with the Joker, and other great stopping places can be found few kilometres further on. The Glen Wills area is also renowned for its gold mining history, and there are excellent accommodation options in this area.
The Willows is a property and accommodation owned by Helen Packer. Set in the Bundara Valley near Anglers Rest, there is enough accommodation for a decent sized group.
The main house is a six bedroom mud brick building where Helen also lives, and there's enough room to space everyone out amongst the bedrooms, with two bathrooms to share. Guests can also enjoy the use of the tennis courts and the huge new deck overlooking the river and the valley.
Helen has been operating the trail rides business from The Willows since 1990, and all rides start from here. The rides operate pretty much anywhere that customers want to go, and Helen can take them right up above the tree line in the mountains, along the many waterways or even starting from Dinner Plains Village. The trail rides are available to absolute beginners right through to experts, for anyone over the age of 10 years old.
Customers often arrive the night before they start an overnight ride experience. This allows time for a meal at either The Willows or down the road at the Blue Duck Inn, and a good night's sleep before the adventure.
