Daylesford Train, VICTORIA
Airing Date: Apr 16th, 2002
Fully restored diesel railmotors are operated over the scenic nine-kilometre section of the former Carlsruhe to Daylesford branch line.
Heritage railmotor services run from Daylesford station to Bullarto every Sunday and The Silver Streak champagne train runs on the first Saturday of each month. The round trip takes about an hour.
In Daylesford the Sunday markets operate from 8am to 2pm at Daylesford Station (rain, hail, shine or snow). Here you will find a wide variety of stalls selling everything from books to spare parts for the car, fresh local produce, clothing and collectables.
Need something to eat? You will find some great food at Cliffy's on Raglan Street.
For somewhere to stay there is the Station House right opposite the railway or just 15 minutes from Daylesford, you'll find the The End of The Line Accommodation. Once a fully-functioning railway signal box, it now serves as a romantic retreat for couples. And just beside it is The Governor's Carriage, a renovated train carriage.
