Armoured Military Vehicles Collection, VICTORIA
Airing Date: Oct 6th, 2003
The International Armoured Military Vehicles Collection is located on the Mornington Peninsula at Cape Schanck. It's run by two military rev-heads, Gary and Howard, and they're more than happy to show you round their 'battlefield'. Yep, they'll show you all their big toys, from the Raging Ferret to the mighty Saracen and the monstrous Centurion tank.
But first up is a briefing on the technical details of the vehicles, driving methods and safety aspects. Once briefed, you get to meet the Ferret Armoured Reconnaissance Vehicle, aka Raging Ferret. Hop in this beast, put your headphones on and hit the off-road testing course. Pretty soon you'll be well acquainted with Ferret, as it tackles the hilly and extremely dirty terrain.
With your confidence up, it's time to test-drive the troop carrier, the mighty Saracen. The Saracen controls are similar to the Ferret, it's just bigger in size. There's power steering, power breaks and room for eight in the back. Forget the Tarago - imagine hooning around the car park in this baby!
But if you're after the ultimate, it's time to experience the beast. This is the Centurion. The Centurion is the real deal - the big gun. Only two passengers travel in the massive tank at a time. First the passengers explore the interior of the tank and then they can have a go at swinging the massive turret around in the air. It's an awesome experience for anyone with a passion for military equipment. The only downside is that you can't drive the tank home.
