Leeman, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Airing Date: Jan 1st, 2002
The first thing to do when you get there is to take a 45-minute boat ride north of Leeman to Beagle Island, which is a great aquatic escape full of wildlife. The locals out here are sea lions and as soon as they spot the boat, they come over for a play. If you want to join in on the fun, you can try scuba diving from $80 per person, or a snorkelling tour for $55.If all the water activities make you hungry, head back to Leeman for a meal at the Coast Road Cafi, which specialises in local seafood including oysters, prawns, calamari, scallops and snapper fillets. While you are in the area, you should visit Cervantes - a 50-minute drive south. This is home to the Pinnacles, in the Nambung National Park. These limestone pillars are around 30,000 years old and years ago, Dutch sailors thought that they were the remains of an ancient city.
