Moondance Lodge, WESTERN AUSTRALIA
Airing Date: Mar 14th, 2005
The Moondance Lodge opened in May 2004, and has already been a success with personal and corporate visitors. The intimate hideaway consists of a main lodge housing the reception, living and dining areas, the conference room and a treetop loft suite, plus the massage loft.
Moondance sits comfortably within its natural surroundings. The beautifully appointed buildings nestle harmoniously in 33 acres of stunning natural bush, gardens, and a comprehensive fruit orchard where guests are welcome to pick their own fruit.
The eight Moondance suites have been designed with complete comfort and discerning style in mind. The suites are pure indulgence, decorated with Jim Thompson Thai silks and original art pieces, creating a luxuriously peaceful ambience to infuse and soothe the senses.
As you can imagine, in one of Australia's key viticultural regions with over 100 local wineries, Moondance is also about indulging in food and wine. Found alongside the grapevines in the area are some of the finest marron, olives and avocadoes. Homemade cheeses, artisan breads, venison and seafood are in abundance.
The Wardan people are an Aboriginal tribe who live in this region and the south west of Western Australia. They are a very active tribe who take quite a pragmatic approach to opening up their culture to the curious, and continuing their traditions. Several of their younger members are training to continue their corroboree traditions.
The main connection between Moondance and the Wardan people is Josh, tribe member and son of an elder. A regular visitor to Moondance, he offers didgeridoo playing for meditation sessions, the medicinal tours and cultural services.
