Looking for a truly unique animal experience? Perth Zoo's Close Encounters take you behind the scenes to see and learn about rare and extraordinary animals, up close!
Close Encounters provide informative and exciting perspectives of the animals on display at Perth Zoo.Perth Zoo's Close Encounters program allows visitors to learn more about their rare and wonderful animals on three types of tours: The Behind the Scenes experience, Keeper for a Day, or by joining the Zoo's Vet on his daily rounds.
Tag-along with a Keeper and get the opportunity to see primates, animals of the Savannah and Elephants. In this unforgettable behind the scenes experience, you can help Keepers with food and behavioural enrichment preparation, cleaning of exhibits and much more.
Other tours available are the behind the scenes views of the rhinoceros and giraffe, including the opportunity to feed the giraffe and take lots of photos! Experience the orang-utans with a guided tour of the roof-top of their exhibit; and see the Keepers' behind the scenes view of the elephants.
You'll also have the chance to interact with the elephants, take photos and enjoy a personal Keeper talk and shadow the Zoo's Veterinary Staff on one of their daily rounds. Learn about the veterinary care of the animals - be it an elephant or a tiny bird!
