Albany is the hub of the Great Southern, a pastorally rich region encompassing Frankland River, Porongorup, Mount Barker and quirky Denmark. Pounded by the vast Southern Ocean, fringed with dramatic cliffs and unspoilt coves, and steeped in the history of early European settlement, the Great Southern region is a fascinating mix of coastlines that give way to rolling pastoral landscapes, mountain ranges, wine regions and a rich mix of flora and fauna.

The Taste Great Southern is held in the region every year with a fantastic line-up of food, wine, art and sounds at the Taste Great Southern. This foodie event showcases the superb quality of regional produce available and features appearances by guest chefs, food authors and local artists.

Local growers sell their produce at the weekly Albany Farmers Market and delight in passing on the provenance of their product together with helpful tips and recipes. The Porongurup Wine Festival is a fun event for the whole family with kids and adults participating in the Great Grape Stomp. Amateur and professional chefs also whip up a feast for the One Wok Wonder Event.

And with a location right on the coast, Albany is the perfect place for a fresh seafood feast!
