When John relaxes with this family he takes them to Big White Ski Resort in Canada. Big White, located about an hour from Kelowna, British Columbia has just undergone a major summer construction which has seen $127.9 million expansions to the park which include two new lifts, runs, a state of the art ski and snowboard terrain park, new intermediate and advanced runs expanding the resorts skiable terrain by 200 acres, and luxury resort accommodations.
At Big White you will marvel at the spectacular panoramic vistas of the picturesque Monashee Ranges and enjoy a wide range of activities that the resort has to offer - such as having a ride on an old fashioned horse drawn sleigh through Big White's magical village!
To get out of the cold visit Snowshoe Sam's. The dining room is located upstairs and features a big stone fireplace, superb food and while you are there, don't miss the famous Gunbarrel Coffee with Grand Marnier, cream, brandy and poured through the barrel of a shot gun. An inter-resort heli-shuttle is also available to nearby Silver Star Mountain Resort - the first of its kind in North America.
Big White Ski Resort has one hundred and eighteen ski runs, nine major chair lifts and incredible snow. It snows seven metres of fresh powder a year providing perfect skiing conditions. There is also terrain for snowboarders and free skiers of all abilities.
The brand new Plaza Mini Park area is located just down from the main village. This mini park offers the novice snowboarder and skier a chance to ride the mini rollers and small banks giving them the chance to experience changing terrain and transitions. Little kids will enjoy Happy Valley where they even have mini snow mobiles.
Big White was voted the best family resort in North America. Together with child friendly skiing areas there's also children's activities such as ice skating and fireworks on a Friday night.
