Michael Buble

Michael Steven Buble was born in Vancouver, 1975. Bubl's career breakthrough came when he sang Kurt Weill's "Mack the Knife" at the wedding of Caroline Mulroney, daughter of former Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, in 2000. Mulroney introduced Buble to David Foster, a multi-Grammy awarding producer and a Warner Brothers record executive who had worked with Josh Groban previously. Foster signed Buble to his '143' record label and he started recording a self-titled album in 2001.

Michael Buble has released six albums to date, Babalu in 2001, Dream in 2002, Michael Buble in 2003, Come Fly with Me in 2004, It's Time in 2005 and Caught in the Act (live album) in 2005, with his seventh album, Call Me Irresponsible, set to be released on 7th May 2007.

Michael has also tried his hand at acting, playing a karaoke singer in Gwyneth Paltrow's Duets, Elvis in 'Touring Troupe' for Red Rock Diner, and a touring musical revue in 1999 entitled Forever Swing.

Michael is of Italian descent and holds dual citizenship with Italy, but definitely calls Canada home.

Vancouver

Vancouver is Canada's 3rd largest city (Toronto is 1st and Montreal 2nd) with an area population of 2 to 2.6 million. It has the mildest climate in Canada. Unlike most Canadian Cities, Vancouver is divided into several self-governing municipalities. (Vancouver city itself only has a population of about 565,000).

Granville Island is a public market open from 9am to 7 pm daily. The Public Market provides the very best of fresh food for the expert chef, as well as those who love to eat! It is a great source of local produce, homemade products and unusual ingredients for exotic recipes. An inexpensive and fun way to reach Granville Island are the Aquabus and False Creek Ferries, providing short rides across the False Creek Inlet, from the downtown side (north) to the Granville Island side (south).

Next door to Granville Island is the Arts Club Theatre. This is where Michael's career began along with other celebrities such as, Michael J Fox and Eric McCormack (Will and Grace).

The Commodore Ballroom (also known as Lady Commodore) is a nightclub and music venue located on Granville Street in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia. It is a general admission venue with a capacity of 900, including standing room and table seating.

The room first opened in December, 1929, but with the onset of the Great Depression, briefly closed four months later. The Commodore then operated as one of Vancouver's premier entertainment venues for 7 decades until closing in 1996. After $3.5 million in renovations (including a new hardwood dance floor) it reopened under the House of Blues banner on November 12, 1999.

The club is known for having showcased musical and performing artists ranging from the Ramones to the Jim Rose Circus, Garbage to GWAR, but is perhaps equally famous for its "bouncing" dance floor. The list of well known artists who have performed here include U2, David Bowie, Depeche Mode, The Supremes, Nirvana, The Village People, The Pixies, RHCP, The Skatalites, and Einsterzende Neubauten.
