Aitutaki Cruise, COOK ISLANDS

The tiny island is most famous for its beautiful blue lagoon and naturally, most of its activities are water-based. So if you love swimming, snorkelling or windsurfing, then this could be your own little slice of heaven for a holiday built primarily on relaxation.

Paradise Island Cruises run day trips around the island.

The first stop on the trip is the deserted island of Moturakau, which is where 'Shipwrecked' was filmed. From there, you can head across the lagoon for another refreshing dose of swimming and snorkelling. The fish here are so tame that they can be hand-fed.

If you are feeling a bit hungry yourself, a feast of barbecued fish, fresh fruit and salads will be cooked on board for you. The good news is, the tour then finishes at One Foot Island, which is a remote, picture-perfect spot with a great refreshment hut. Perfect spot to chill out for an hour or two after your huge lunch! The best way to really get a feel for the local culture once you are back on dry land is to take a bus ride through the main village of Aratunga. This will give you the chance to meet the interesting locals.
