Yachting the Dalmatian Coast, CROATIA

The coast and islands of Croatia are a yachtsman's paradise, especially around the Dalmatian Coast.

Legend has it that when God finished creating the world he had a fistful of rocks left over. He threw these rocks into the sea and they became the Kornati Islands. It is said that yachting around these isles is a great way to experience the true beauty of God's creation.

The fun starts at Kornati Marina. It's here you meet the skipper from Sunsail and board your floating accommodation for the next seven days.

Whether you sail the catamaran yourself or learn the ropes from a skipper, you'll find sailing around these sparkling blue waters a totally enjoyable experience. The Kornati Islands are completely remote. You'll feel like you're sailing into another world with rocky drops of land, colourful sunsets and friendly dolphins.

Signs of human habitation are rare and the lack of fresh water and vegetation has kept developers away. Instead of fighting the crowds, you can enjoy the scenery with just a handful of friends or family.

If after a few days you're keen for a bit of company, try Vruje on Kornat Island. This island is marked with dry stone walls that run right across it. The walls were made just high enough to stop sheep from jumping over. The shepherds and sheep are long gone, but their influence is still recognised in these meandering walls.

With sailing, swimming and sunsets, the toughest decision on this holiday is whether to stay at one island or cruise on to the next. What sets this magical Sunsail cruise apart from the rest is the flexible schedule. After all, it's your holiday - so you decide the itinerary!
