Copenhagen is one of the most exciting cities in the world, and as clichd as it may sound, the Danes really do love their food and beer. Apparently each person drinks 106 litres of beer every year, which is around two billion bottles in total!
Most of their beer comes from the Carlsberg Brewery, one of the world's leading brewing groups. With 103 sites worldwide, they sell approximately 7.9 billion litres a year.
The Carlsberg visitors centre is the shrine to all things beer. It presents the first brewery from 1847, the stables with the Carlsberg horses and a whole range of exhibitions displaying the history of the brewery and its beer production.
In preparation for the wedding of Prince Frederik and Mary Donaldson, a royal beer has been especially created, using hops from Tasmania and barley from the Prince's Brothers Estate.
Throughout Denmark, there are many towns with Viking Museums. The leading one would have to be Roskilde, which displays five original 11th century Viking ships. The ships were reconstructed after being retrieved from the bottom of the Roskilde Fjord. It was thought they were sunk here deliberately to create an underwater barrier.
Come rain or shine, you're sure to enjoy the world's oldest theme park, Bakken. It has been running for 500 years and attracts half a million visitors a year. The park features 36 rides, a circus tent, bars, restaurants and, of course, beer tents.
