Captain Cook Cruise, FIJI
Airing Date: Mar 21st, 2005
The Captain Cook M.V Reef Escape has been specifically designed to be the ultimate South Pacific 'destination experience' cruise ship offering luxury and comfort through out your stay.
Aboard the Captain Cook, M.V Reef Escape you can enjoy a magnificent cruise around the Yasawa Islands in Fiji. A total of 330 islands make up Fiji and they are scattered across 230,000 square kilometres. The exotic Yasawa Islands lie to the north west of Nadi, the international gateway to Fiji.
In the cruise ship business, the M.V Reef escape is considered a small ship. She can get into areas that other vessels can't reach, making this trip that little but different. It stops every morning at different islands allowing its passengers to stretch their sea legs and meet with the locals. One of the places you can stop off at is Matacalwalevu which is where many of the fishermen live with their families. In Fijian it actually means 'big beach'. When the Reef docks at the various islands, the locals like to open up their markets to the tourists and if you visit during the school holidays, then you will have the opportunity to meet with all the great kids who are extremely friendly.
There is a stop off at the celebrity island, Sawa-I-Lau where the famous film, the Blue Lagoon was filmed. It also has great caves, but these can be really dark so you never know what you might be swimming with!
Onboard the Reef Escape, all the rooms are adequately sized. The deluxe staterooms are located on the upper deck, regular staterooms on the upper and promenade decks and cabins situated on the main deck. The ship sleeps up to 120 people. On deck there is a swimming pool, spa, pool bar and plenty of sun lounges for hours of relaxation. Other features include a cocktail lounge, a dining saloon, library and even a 24 coffee bar.
During your trip you might like to keep with the Fijian tradition and try the local drink, kava. It looks and tastes like muddy water and has the sensation of making your mouth go numb!
Whether it's your first time or you're a frequent cruiser, this trip will have you wanting to visit again and again!
