Lefkada Kayaking, Greece
Airing Date: Feb 17th, 2007
Lefkada is one of the Ionian Islands, known as the 'Eptanisia' in Greek, which lie in the Ionian Sea. The island is less than 100 metres from the mainland coast of Akarnania, to which it is linked by a floating bridge.
Trekking Hellas is the largest outdoor travel tour operator in Greece and offers a range of sea kayaking tours around the Ionian islands, located off the west coast of mainland Greece.
This area has been listed by
National Geographic Traveller as one of the top 20 paddling destinations in the world. Participants can choose from a range of guided tours from 2 to 9 days.
The tours explore isolated beaches, remote little islets, various land-based attractions and at the end of a leisurely day of paddling, participants camp under the stars on an uninhabited beach/bay or stay at a local accommodation. A good level of fitness is required for the longer trips but previous kayaking experience is not essential and all equipment and camping needs are supplied by the operator.
