Goldeneye, JAMAICA

Goldeneye is located on the Caribbean island of Jamaica and features beautiful beaches, gorgeous weather and luxurious tropical-themed villas. One of these villas was the holiday hideaway of Ian Fleming, the man behind James Bond.

When Fleming visited the island nearly 60 years ago he was bowled over by its tropical tranquillity. He built an estate called Goldeneye and spent nearly 20 winters at this retreat penning 14 of his famous James Bond novels. Today, the resort is owned by music mogul Chris Blackwell, the man who launched many musicians into international stardom, including Bob Marley, U2 and Grace Jones. Chris has opened Goldeneye up for the public to enjoy.

Goldeneye comprises of Flemings original 3-bedroom house along with four additional villas. Flemings house is the most expensive villa, and it's just about the ultimate in holiday luxury. The 3 bedroom house is surrounded by bamboo fencing and tropical foliage, a cut stone courtyard and a lily pond with exotic fish. Inside theres a large living room area filled with Indonesian influences, including large bamboo couches and four-poster beds, lush batik fabrics and inspiring artwork. There's also a large viewing room with a huge plasma screen TV where you can watch the full series of James Bond.

With the sunny Caribbean shores right at your doorstep there's plenty to do. Walk along your own private beach or try kayaking or snorkeling - or simply take a stroll through the garden where many celebrities have planted trees during their stay. Among the famous who participated were Sir Anthony Hopkins, Gwyneth Paltrow and Jim Carrey. If youre looking for a bit of James Bond action, you cant go past the fancy jet skis. A half hour ripping it up is included in the price of a stay at Goldeneye.
