A 15 minute speedboat ride from Male International Airport will take you to the worlds first all-water villa resort. Set on the lagoon of Langkanfushi, Soneva Gili Resort and Spa features 29 water villas, eigth residences and seven ultimate Crusoe residences.
The spacious villas and residences have wooden floors and are built on the water. The bathrooms have been designed with a separate shower accessed along an open-air walkway, and each apartment has its own private water garden. Some of the villas also have an open-air Jacuzzi.
Most of the villas and residences can be reached from the jetties that extend out from the island, but if youre looking for the ultimate in privacy, try one of the Soneva Gili Crusoe residences. These luxurious havens are completely surrounded by sparkling water and can only be reached by boat. Your nearest neighbour is 30 metres away.
If you fancy a break from relaxing in the sun, there are plenty of leisure activities to choose from. You could be tempted by the catamaran, the free windsurfing, or even the free canoeing.
One of the most popular activities is a cruise to the outer reef for snorkelling. Visitors reach the reef via a traditional boat, called Dhonis. The world underneath the reef is full of tropical marine life and colourful coral.
