Taha'a Island in Tahiti, French Polynesia, is one of the 118 islands between Australia and America. Taha'a used to be strictly family owned until Le Taha'a was built in 2002.
Le Taha'a offers the ultimate in privacy and exclusive accommodation. You can only reach Taha'a Island by boat from the neighbouring island, Raiatea or by helicopter from Bora Bora.
The resort itself is located on a private motu just near Taha'a Island (in Tahitian, motu means a very small island off another island) and is accessible only by boat. It is built in a luxurious but traditional Polynesian style, with polished woods, thatched roofs and natural stones.
The resort is made up of 34 over-water bungalows offering views of the magnificent Bora Bora on one side and Taha'a on the other. Each five star room also has its very own fish tank.
The surrounding lagoon is never less then 25 degrees, and you can dive straight in from your balcony! It's quite shallow round the hotel with crystal clear waters, white sand and stunning tropical fish.
To continue the relaxing theme of your holiday, treat yourself to a double massage for around $142 for half an hour. You can also go snorkelling, shark feeding, windsurfing and sailing.
For more unusual activities, you can visit a vanilla plantation or the Hibiscus Turtle Conservation Centre on the mainland. The centre is home to turtles which have been rescued from fishing nets and nursed back to health by the centre.
As well as being the perfect honeymoon location, Le Taha'a serves up a great buffet every Tuesday night. For around $92 you can eat as much as you like and watch the evening's entertainment. During the day, visitors can enjoy the villages along the coast of Taha'a and take in the traditional, tranquil life of the Tahitians.
