Camping on the white sandy beach of Haapiti, Moorea is a favourite with backpackers at only $40. It's simple, clean, comfortable and the cheapest option on the island. They also hire kayaks and the bikes are free.

The Tarariki Village costs about $80 and gets you a Polynesian bungalow for two not to mention a big communal area for cooking. They also have a beachfront treehouse for a little extra.

The Hotel Hibiscus has a standard rate of around $220 a night. The cabins are large enough for a family of four, and they come with free snorkel gear. All the rooms have their own kitchens but the restaurant here is famous across Tahiti for having good, affordable food.

Sofitel Ia Ora Resort is said to sit on 'the most beautiful beach' on Moorea and is a superior class hotel. It is also billed as the only hotel on the island with a spectacular view of Tahiti rising from the sea to the east. Rates start at $469 a couple and you can upgrade to a bungalow on top of the water.

For $510 per couple per night the Sheraton Moorea Resort offers the most gorgeous setting on the island. The overwater bungalows, the most luxurious, offer a view of sea life through a small glass floor panel, as well as a private deck and a swimming platform into the lagoon.
Check into the day spa or try one of the many activities including an outdoor pool, a fitness club, tennis, fishing, sailing, canoeing, kayaking, scuba diving and yachting. Snorkelling equipment is included in all the rooms. You can even choose your pillow from a pillow menu.
