Disneyland, Los Angeles, USA

Airing Date: Mar 10th, 2007

Disneyland has to be one of the most popular places in the USA and is, officially, "the Happiest Place on Earth". It's here that kids, both big and small live out their childhood dreams and get a few thrills while they're at it!

Disneyland is the kind of place where visitors always have something to do, something to see and even somewhere to siteven if that means in a rollercoaster! The parks rides are its' star attractions and some of the more popular ones can have queues banking up for what feels like miles!

The best way to combat the queues is with a Fastpass. This is a card that can be swiped in any turnstile that saves a place in the queue. The average wait time using the Fastpass is 11 minutes and they can be picked up on entry to the park.

The 'Parade of Dreams' runs daily and is essentially the best way to see all your favourite Walt Disney characters in a lavish ride straight through the heart of the park.

Now to the rides! One of the most popular rides at Disneyland is Space Mountain. It was relaunched bigger and better than before in July 2005 and is the ultimate high-speed interstellar rollercoaster adventure. It includes state-of-the-art special effects to enhance the experience of flying through outer space!

One of the parks' newer rides is Monsters Inc. Inspired by the Disney/ Pixar film, this three-dimensional attraction includes over 40 characters in 16 distinct scenes - some re-recorded by the original celebrity voices.

Using high-tech equipment guests climb aboard waiting taxis and hit the streets of Metropolis to follow Mike and Sully on their mission of safely returning "boo" to her bedroom - coming across sneaky Randall Boggs on their travels. This is family-oriented entertainment at its' best.

The name Pirates of the Caribbean conjures up images of the box-office smash movie starring Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow. What a lot of fans don't realise is that the movie was inspired by the Pirate of the Caribbean ride - one of the parks' top attractions.

Having updated the ride to reflect the movie, the attraction is a swashbuckling voyage that transports guests back to the days when pirates roamed the seas. More than 500 million people have experienced the rollicking fun of Pirates since it first opened almost 39 years ago.

Disneyland truly is a once-in-a-lifetime experience although many visitors have been more than once. Such is the immense pull of a theme park that has become an icon of childhood fantasy and offers great family fun.
