Toys R Us - New York, USA

Dubbed 'the centre of the toy universe', this multi-level store offers shoppers a vast array of toys and dramatic retail attractions, distinctive feature shops and a large assortment of exclusive merchandise.

Everything in the store is on a grand scale, as you'll see the moment you walk through the door.

The dramatic centrepiece of Toys R Us is the mammoth

60-foot tall indoor ferris wheel. This wheel with a neon-flashing centrepiece is popular with everyone, from toddlers to granddads. The ride has 14 individually themed cars, each inspired by various children's toys, games and characters. The store provides all the latest, and all the best in the toy world. Stacked on the shelves you'll find new toys like the Hulk's green fists and Yugi-oh, to old favourites like Monopoly and Dr Seuss. There's also a mini New York City made from Lego pieces, a 4000-square foot Barbie dollhouse, a massive dinosaur model, and a Cabbage Patch area where visitors can watch Nurse Pam deliver a newborn Cabbage Patch kid.

Times Square has accommodation designed with kids in mind. The Casablanca Hotel is close to Toys R Us and lets kids under 12 stay and eat for free, when accompanied by an adult. Every room has a VCR, and guests have access to the hotel's video library. Complimentary refreshments are served 24 hours a day.

Another accommodation option is The Library Hotel in downtown Manhattan. Each of their 60 rooms has been individually decorated and contains books of specific genres. Not surprisingly, one of the most popular rooms is the Harry Potter Room.
