Romantic Vanuatu

Vanuatu was formerly known as the New Hebrides before gaining independence from Anglo-French rule in 1980. Today Vanuatu a self-governing Republic and a member of the Commonwealth.

An archipelago of 83 islands, Vanuatu has a unique blend of intact tribal communities, resorts, beaches and geography ranging from accessible volcanoes to pristine underwater environments. The population includes native ni-Vanuatu people of Melanesian origin plus a mix of French, British, Australian, New Zealand, Asian and people of Pacific origin.

Only a short 3 hour and 50 minute direct flight from Sydney to Port Vila or 3 hours from Brisbane.

Efate is the main island of Vanuatu where the capital Port Vila is situated. Captain Cook was the first European to visit the island. Cook named it Sandwich Island after Lord Sandwich, the patron of his voyage. Fortunately the indigenous name prevailed.

Port Vila is located around a natural harbour offering views of Iririki and Ifira Islands. The airport is only a short distance from town and all major resorts and hotels.

The best time of year to visit Vanuatu is April/May to October when the temperatures range comfortably from 18 to 28 degrees Celsius. Light weight casual clothing plus a jacket is usually all you will need to pack. November & December are warmer and January to March is usually hot with temperatures ranging from 26 to 34 degrees Celsius. During this time Vanuatu is often wet and prone to cyclones.

Mangoes Resort

Mangoes Resort is an affordable, extravagant and exclusive resort, only a 5-10 minute walk to the town centre. It is a new child free only resort with no children under 18 years old in the resort.

Recently refurbished, the resort has been open for about 7 years and they are currently building another 9 rooms with their own plunge pools.

Mangoes Restaurant and Bar is a well known restaurant know to locals and visitors and for honeymooners they will supply a bottle of bubbly and flowers in the room

Eratap Beach Resort

Eratap Beach Resort is an exclusive luxury hidden amongst the coastal forests of Eratap. It opened November 2007 and has 3 beaches and 8 acres of tropical gardens provide a complete natural sanctuary

Located 20 minutes south east from Port Vila, it consists of 12 luxury waterfront villas, which limits the number of guests at any one time.

Eratap has a beachfront restaurant, but for a romantic meal, have dinner by candlelight on your villa deck. There is one honeymoon Villa available and it is set on it's own point!

The resort has special family weeks. Outside of the designated family weeks, children are welcome on request.

Weddings in Vanuatu are recognised as legal in New Zealand and Australia and a range of wedding packages are available and start in price from AUD $1350.

Breakas Beach Resort & Villas

Set amidst palms on a 2km private beach, it is an intimate tropical retreat for adults only.
